 For a country with a totally ceremonial post of President, we're getting awfully hot under the collar over who the next one is going to be.
From the silly to the ridiculous, suggestions are flowing in thick and fast.
Unfortunately, the latest one is not just idiotic but downright dangerous, seeing the symbolism in it. This is the idea of making ultra-capitalist Narayana Murthy president. This is the same Narayana Murthy who said "capitalism reduces poverty and is the only way to development" - and I can just imagine the alacrity with which he'll sign the most retrogressive right wing legislation into law.
Probably that's precisely why they want him.
