- When it comes to predicting how actual people behave, and how the real world works, the so-called "discipline" of academic economics is about as useful as astrology. Considering how much attention is paid to economics PhDs who consistently seem to have less of a clue than the corner costermonger, if it were up to me, the subject would be banned.
- Now that Rememberance or Veteran's Day is over, I want to ask you all this:
How many of you are aware of the absurdity of symbolically 'ending' the First World War (actually, it was an armistice, followed by months of a criminal starvation blockade on Germany) at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month? The armistice had been signed six hours earlier, and yet the fighting and killing continued for no purpose.
Also, this war was one in which millions of black, brown and yellow men were dragged into shedding their blood for their colonial masters in a quarrel of which they had no part. How many of you remember them?
And how many are aware that waging war is now a crime under international law, and has been for over eighty years? All soldiers who take part in wars of aggression are war criminals from the moment the first 'humanitarian' cruise missile is launched. Do you know that?
- Happy 11/11/11, everyone. A once in a lifetime date, unless you plan to survive till 2111. At 11.11am, what will you be doing, if it hasn't come around yet? I'll be working on a specimen.
- Asking for help: An Excel 2010 Sheet containing important data, which was password protected, has been accidentally locked. How can the password be retrieved?
- Going by the comparitive destruction and human suffering they've inflicted,which is the worse, Al Qaeda or NATO? Undoubtedly, as any informed person will agree, it's the latter.
Should not the people of NATO nations then be subjected to starvation and destitution by sanctions and bombs? Shouldn't their political and military leaders be hunted down like vermin, and their societies destroyed beyond recovery?
Going by NATO's own practices, they should.
- Last night I dreamt I was buried alive. Dreamt partially in flashback, it was kind of film noir but was still terrifying. An appropriate dream for Halloween, perhaps, but it's still not something I'd recommend to anyone.
